On June 13th, CFAO Healthcare presented during a press conference held in Nairobi, Kenya, a White Paper entitled “Securing the medicine distribution network in Africa”, jointly published with the OPALS Foundation (Organisation PanAfricaine de Lutte pour la Santé).
This publication aims to raise awareness of the major role of the official medicine distribution networks on the African continent by describing the main actors and networks.
In Kenya, where over 70% of medicines are imported, many efforts have already been taken to reduce the risk of exposure to falsified medicines.
“While Kenya benefits from a strong private sector, this White Paper is a call to action. We must reinforce official distribution networks and empower local private health systems to protect the health of the patients.” said Ken Accajou, Deputy CEO of CFAO Healthcare and Head of retail & Pre-Wholesale, English & Portuguese area.
