While access to high-quality and affordable medicines remains a major challenge for the continent, this unique model strengthens the healthcare supply, enabling as many people as possible to access medicines throughout Africa.

Producing medicines locally

Through our subsidiaries—Propharmal in Algeria, Maphar in Morocco, and CFAO Healthcare in South Africa—we provide a unique offering to international pharmaceutical companies, covering registration, local production, marketing, and distribution. Our manufacturing operations play a vital role in ensuring access to high-quality medicines across Africa.

Mastering pharmaceutical logistics and distribution

Our supply chain complies with the highest international quality and traceability standards. From our logistics centre in France, we supply wholesale distributors to around fifty destinations in Africa and the French Overseas Territories (FOTs), as well as our own Laborex network. This ensures the integrity of the medicines, from storage right through to pharmacies across the Continent.

Securing medicine distribution to patients

Through Goodlife, East Africa’s leading pharmacy chain, we distribute medicines and wellness products directly to patients. Goodlife operates nearly 150 pharmacies in Kenya and Uganda, serving more than 2 million patients each year.

Through Missionpharma, we supply generic medicines and essential drug kits to public and private institutions and major international organizations such as the UN.

CFAO Healthcare, a major player in pharmaceutical distribution in Africa, and the OPALS Foundation (Organisation PanAfricaine de Lutte pour la Santé) have jointly published a white paper entitled “Securing the medicine distribution network in Africa”.

This publication aims to raise awareness of the major role of the official medicine distribution networks on the African continent by describing the main actors and networks. It highlights the importance of a reliable and secure supply to ensure the integrity of pharmaceutical products and the health of patients. It also provides an overview of the presence and impact of falsified medicines in Africa.
