CFAO continue to roll out its industrialisation strategy on the continent by adding assembly of a new car model to their Kenyan production line.
The Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 7) was an opportunity for TTC to sign a number of partnerships with African countries. An agreement with the Kenyan government has now increased manufacturing capacity on the Horn of Africa.
The contract covers expansion of the Group's Kenyan production line. In addition to Land Cruisers and Hino Trucks, Kenyan specialist Associated Vehicle Assemblers Ltd (AVA) will now handle production of the iconic Toyota Hilux pickup, which will then be sold on the domestic market. The facility will begin producing 1,200 vehicles a year as of 25th October 2019.
An inauguration ceremony was held on 18th October at the Mombasa assembly plant, and was attended by a number of senior officials, including dignitaries from the Kenyan government, the CEOs of the Toyota Tsusho Corporation and Toyota Kenya, representatives from the CFAO Group and other representatives.
